What to bid
Rough bid guideWe could not recognise the exact reference in this listing, so there is no bid ladder from auction results. Here is a rough guide from what dealers ask for the most similar watches instead.
USD 50 is an opening bid, not a price. Sales like this start low to draw bidders in. They usually end near what the watch is worth, or a hidden reserve stops them. If it really went that cheap, that would itself be the warning sign.
Bought here, the buyer's premium, shipping, and import VAT and duty to Denmark add about 62% to the hammer. Stop at about USD 37,500 and you pay 20% less than a dealer's USD 76,145: a fair discount for buying without a dealer's warranty or return. A rough guide from the 17 most similar Rolex Day Date listings (USD 67,395 – 88,400), not the same reference.
Before you bidfive checks
- The seller guarantees in writing that the watch is genuine and takes it back if it is not.
- The photos show the case back, clasp, and the serial and reference numbers between the lugs. Ask for them if not.
- You know every fee: the buyer's premium (often 20–25% online), shipping and insurance, and import VAT.
- "New", "polished" and "electronically tested" prove nothing: polished means it has been worked on, and an electronic test checks gold, not a watch.
- Decide your maximum before the sale and don't go above it.
